Best Lemonade Ever

Ingredients

  • Servings: 20
  • 1 3/4 cups white sugar
  • 8 cups water
  • 1 1/2 cups lemon juice

Recipe

    Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 5 mins Ready Time: 4 hrs 35 mins

  • in a small saucepan, combine sugar and 1 cup water. bring to boil and stir to dissolve sugar. allow to cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate until chilled.
  • remove seeds from lemon juice, but leave pulp. in pitcher, stir together chilled syrup, lemon juice and remaining 7 cups water.

  • in a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and the eggs. gradually add in the milk and water, stirring to combine. add the salt and butter; beat until smooth.
  • heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. pour or scoop the batter the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each crepe. tilt the pan with a circular motion so that the batter coats the surface evenly.
  • cook the crepe for about 2 minutes, until the bottom is light brown. loosen with a spatula, turn and cook the other side. serve hot.

eggnog cake

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon flavored extract
  • 3/4 cup milk

    Ready Time: 1 hr 25 mins

  • preheat oven to 350 degrees f (175 degrees c). grease and flour an 8x4 inch loaf pan. sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and ginger; set aside.
  • in a large bowl, cream together sugar, butter, and shortening until light and fluffy. blend in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the extract. beat in the flour mixture alternately with the milk, mixing just until incorporated. pour batter into prepared pan.
  • bake in the preheated oven for 65 to 70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Creamy Hot Cocoa

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/3 cup boiling water
  • 3 1/2 cups milk
  • 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup half-and-half cream

  • combine the cocoa, sugar and pinch of salt in a saucepan. blend in the boiling water. bring this mixture to an easy boil while you stir. simmer and stir for about 2 minutes. watch that it doesn't scorch. stir in 3 1/2 cups of milk and heat until very hot, but do not boil! remove from heat and add vanilla. divide between 4 mugs. add the cream to the mugs of cocoa to cool it to drinking temperature.

  • in large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, melted butter, flour sugar and salt until smooth.
  • heat a medium-sized skillet or crepe pan over medium heat. grease pan with a small amount of butter or oil applied with a brush or paper towel. using a serving spoon or small ladle, spoon about 3 tablespoons crepe batter into hot pan, tilting the pan so that bottom surface is evenly coated. cook over medium heat, 1 to 2 minutes on a side, or until golden brown. serve immediately.

italian cookies iii

Ingredients

  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 cup butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon anise
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons multicolored candy sprinkles

    Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 10 mins Ready Time: 35 mins

  • preheat oven to 450 degrees f (230 degrees c). grease cookie sheets.
  • in a large bowl, stir together the flour, 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar and baking powder. cut in butter using a pastry blender or rub between fingers until well blended. stir in the eggs, vanilla and anise extracts and mix into a firm dough. turn dough out a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes. roll tablespoonfuls of dough into balls and place them 1 inch apart the prepared cookie sheets.
  • bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until firm. remove from cookie sheets to cool on wire racks. in a small bowl, stir together 1 cup confectioners' sugar and 1 1/2 tablespoons water. drizzle over cooled cookies and decorate with sprinkles.
