Onion & Garlic Crostini

Ingredients

- 1 tablespoon land o' lakes butter
- 3 large onions, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh garlic, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup green onion, thinly sliced
- 1/4 lb alpine lace reduced-fat swiss cheese, shredded
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 lb french baguette, cut into 32 slices
Recipe
- 1 melt butter in 10-inch skillet until sizzling; add 3 cups onions and garlic.
- 2 cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until onions are softened and golden (8 to 10 minutes).
- 3 remove from heat; cool 15 minutes.
- 4 heat oven to 350°.
- 5 combine green onions, cheese and salt in medium bowl.
- 6 add cooled onion mixture; mix well.
- 7 place bread slices onto ungreased baking sheet.
- 8 bake for 4 minutes.
- 9 spread about 2 teaspoons onion mixture onto each bread slice.
- 10 continue baking for 6 minutes or until cheese is melted.
- 11 note: make the onion and garlic spread before the party.
- 12 refrigerate until ready to serve.
