Gingerbread

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup sorghum
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup raisins

Recipe

  • 1 cream together shortening, eggs, sugar and syrup; add buttermilk.
  • 2 sift dry ingredients together and add to wet mixture.
  • 3 mix well, pour into a greased and floured pan.
  • 4 bake at 350° for 40 minutes or until done.
