Shortbread

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 150 g plain flour
  • 100 g slightly salted butter
  • 50 g caster sugar

Recipe

  • 1 heat the oven to 150c/fan 130c/gas 2. put the flour in a bowl & rub in the butter to make fine crumbs.stir in sugar.
  • 2 work the mixture until it forms a ball. turn out on worksurface and knead briefly until smooth. work into a round & roll & pat out on a very lightly floured surface to a 18 cm round.carefully lift or slide the dough on to a baking sheet( no need to grease) & flute the edges with your fingers.mark the circle into eight triangles with a knife, cutting all teh way through. prick over with a fork.
  • 3 bake for 30-35 minutes - it should be very pale. while still warm, cut through the markings,then sprinkle with sugar.
