Starbucks Caramel Scones

Total Time: 26 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 16 mins

Ingredients

  • 3 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup half-and-half or 3/4 cup low-fat whipping cream
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 cup whole milk (for best results use whole milk)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
  • 1/3 cup butterscotch chips, fine chopped (use food processor)
  • 1 egg , slightly beaten
  • confectioners' sugar (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 425°f.
  • 2 line a baking sheet with parchment paper, or use nonstick spray.
  • 3 place flour and butter in a medium mixing bowl, combine with your fingers to a coarse meal consistency.
  • 4 sift together the sugar, baking powder, and salt (if used). stir into flour mixture.
  • 5 in another small bowl, combine the cream, milk, vanilla, and egg. pour into dry ingredients, blending well to form a soft dough.
  • 6 stir in the cup of butterscotch chips.
  • 7 scoop mixture onto the baking sheet, to form individual scones.
  • 8 brush tops with beaten egg .
  • 9 sprinkle ground butterscotch chips over top.
  • 10 bake until browned - 16-18 minutes.
  • 11 dust with confectioner's sugar when cool.
