Hot Roll Moravian Sugar Cake

Total Time: 2 hrs Preparation Time: 1 hr 40 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 (16 ounce) package hot roll mix
  • 3/4 cup warm water (105* to 115*)
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup instant nonfat dry milk powder
  • 1/3 cup mashed potato flakes
  • 1/3 cup margarine or 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 2/3 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup margarine or 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Recipe

  • 1 grease 13x9-inch pan.
  • 2 in a large bowl, dissolve yeast from hot roll mix in warm water.
  • 3 stir in half of flour from hot roll mix and remaining ingredients; beat 2 minutes at medium speed.
  • 4 stir in remaining flour from hot roll mix; beat well.
  • 5 cover loolely with plastic wrap and cloth until light and doubled in size, about 45 minutes.
  • 6 stir down dough; spread in prepared pan.
  • 7 cover; let rise in warm place until light and doubled in size, about 45 minutes.
  • 8 heat oven to 375*.
  • 9 make small pockets in dough by pressing lightly with floured fingertip.
  • 10 sprinkle brown sugar-cinnamin mixture over dough.
  • 11 drizzle with melted margarine; sprinkle with nuts.
  • 12 bake at 375* for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
