Okra Fingers

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 20 small fresh okra pods
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 dash black pepper
  • vegetable oil

Recipe

  • 1 wash okra, trim steams, drain well.
  • 2 pour buttermilk over okra, set aside.
  • 3 combine next 5 ingredients mixing well. remove each okra pod from buttermilk and carefully roll in cornmeal mixture.
  • 4 drop into deep hot oil; fry 3 to 5 minutes. drain on paper towels.
