Kourabieldes (greek Cookies)

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 lb sweet butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/2 ounce cognac (brandy)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 4 cups flour (not quite full)

Recipe

  • 1 micowave butter until soft but not melted.
  • 2 beat butter and sugar thoroughly.
  • 3 add egg yolks and beat further.
  • 4 in a seperate bowl mix cognac and baking powder together.
  • 5 add to butter and sugar mixture and stir together.
  • 6 add flour to the mixture.
  • 7 dough should be soft.
  • 8 roll dough into a tube approximately 1 1/2 inches in diameter.
  • 9 cut into even slices approximately 1 inches wide.
  • 10 place on a cookie sheet that has been lined with parchment paper.
  • 11 push a small indent with your finger in each cookie.
  • 12 bake at 350 for 20-25 min.
  • 13 when cookies cool but are still warm sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  • 14 *do not let cookie cool all the way or powdered sugar will not stick.
