Turboroaster Pesto Chicken

Total Time: 55 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 (5 lb) whole chickens, neck and giblets removed
  • 1/4 cup pesto sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 lemon
  • salt and pepper (to taste)

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 450 degrees f.
  • 2 wash chicken and pat dry with paper towels.
  • 3 with your fingers, separate the skin from the meat around the breast and legs. push small amounts of pesto under the skin, using about 1/4 cup. rub a little pesto over the skin and sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper.
  • 4 fill the cavity with cut-up lemon and orange, along with fresh basil leaves or about 1 tsp of dried basil.
  • 5 fill turboroaster jar 1/4 full with hot water. screw lid on tightly and insert spout into chicken's cavity.
  • 6 place chicken in a roasting pan, and place in pre-heated oven.
  • 7 allow chicken to cook for 45 minutes.
