Soda Bread

Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 3/4 cups buttermilk
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 400 degrees fahrenheit.
- 2 pour flour, baking soda and salt in a mixing bowl. mix thoroughly. add buttermilk at once and mix with a wooden spoon until dry ingredients have been moistened. the dough should be slightly lumpy, do not over mix.
- 3 split the dough into two equal parts and gently knead each one to form two round mounds of dough. put cooking paper on a baking tray and put the two mounds of dough on the tray. using a sharp knife, cut 1/2 inch deep perpendicular slits on the top of each mound to form crosses.
- 4 put the baking tray in the preheated oven and bake for 40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown. when the bread is ready, it should make a hollow sound when its bottom is tapped with the tip of a finger.
- 5 let the bread cool on a cooling rack for a few minutes before serving.
